was established on March 28, 1996 for the purpose of constructing, owning and operating a 7.0 MW mini-hydroelectric power plant that would generate electricity for the franchise area of the Cagayan Electric Power & Light Company [CEPALCO]. Project construction started on January 1997 and was completed on July 2001. After successfully completing tests and commissioning works, the plant started commercial operations on September 2001.
BPC is one of the first to be certified by the Department of Energy [DOE] as a mini-hydroelectric power developer under the Mini-Hydro Law [RA 7156] of 1991. The plant is located in the Municipality of Baungon, in the Province of Bukidnon and is approximately 25 kilometers south of Cagayan de Oro City.
