CEPALCO Educational Scholarship
CEPALCO’s scholarship program is focused on providing financial assistance to deserving and promising high school and collegiate students within the franchise area. The scholarship carries no obligation and condition for each beneficiary except that they must pass all subjects and maintain the grades as set by CEPALCO. Scholarship benefits include: tuition fee & other school fees as billed by the school, monthly stipend, and cost of required textbooks.
CEPALCO Volunteer Fire Brigade
The Cepalco Volunteer Fire Brigade (CVFB) consists of a pool of thirty-seven (37) able-bodied Cepalco personnel, volunteer company security guards and utility men tasked to assist the BFP-10 firefighters in the suppression of destructive fires and/or response voluntarily to other emergencies based on the BFP Running Card System. The CVFB may also respond in the first alarm to purposely to cut-off the electrical power at the fire scene and help extinguish the fire and shall undergo periodic training in coordination with the BFP especially those new members of the group, among others.
Gonzalo & Carmen Abaya Memorial Foundation, Inc.
GONZALO & CARMEN ABAYA MEMORIAL FOUNDATION, INC., (CGAMFI) was initially organized in 1986 as the Gonzalo T. Abaya Foundation, Inc. (GTAFI) in honor of the founding chairman of CEPALCO, the late MR. GONZALO T. ABAYA, who was remembered as the person who made things possible for what is now the 3rd largest private electric utility outside Metro Manila. The move to organize the Foundation was spearheaded by the employees of CEPALCO with funds coming from contributions and donations from friends, relatives and immediate family of the founder as well as its own employees. The funds were invested in short-term investments and its income were used to finance its scholarship programs and administrative expenses.
Red Cross Blood Donation
CEPALCO has been an active partner with the Philippine Red Cross and on September 13, 2013, the company was awarded the Blood Services Platinum Award during the Blood Services Awarding Ceremony held at the Grand Caprice Restaurant, Limketkai Center. The recognition was based on the company’s continued voluntary support in the promotion of mass blood donations for 9 years yielding 948 units of blood. This elevated CEPALCO as an active partner of the Philippine Red Cross in saving lives.
Family Welfare Activities
CEPALCO’s Family Welfare Committee (FWC) is one of the pioneers and founding members of the Federation of Family Welfare Committees of Region X (FFWC-10) dedicated to promote and maintain a stable and sound industrial peace through harmonious labor-management relations, and to serve as an effective forum for dialogue and mutual assistance for the holistic betterment of the quality of life of the employees in particular and to uphold and strengthen inter-family relationships in general.
