Mr. Abaya has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Master's Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the Kennedy School of Harvard University. He also completed Master of Science in Financial Economics from the University of London. He has been active in the power industry for more than 25 years.

Mr. Abaya has an M.S. in Pure Mathematics from the University of Chicago. He used to be a Consultant in the Management Services Division of Sycip, Gorres, Velayo & Co. (SGV Group) and was formerly the Comptroller of Resins, Inc. He is currently the Chairman of CEPALCO Energy Services & Trading Corp. He joined the CEPALCO group in 1980.
